![]() 1:1500 scale miniature paper model, about 3.75 inches tall This eclectic 1925 skyscraper design by Hood & Howells was the winner of a $100,000 competition held by the Chicago Tribune. Inspired by the "Butter Tower" of Rouen Cathedral, its gargoyles and flying buttresses soar 456 feet above Michigan Avenue. The lower walls and lobby are decorated with stones from notable monuments and historic sites around the world. Along with the Wrigley Building across the street, the Tribune Tower forms the gateway to Chicago's famous Magnificent Mile. Read more:
